Guess Who Directed This

Posted in fred durst, movies, rants, seriously...fred durst, the apocalypse, trailers, videos on May 29, 2008 by pgleason85

Go ahead…guess.  Here’s a synopsis:

. . . The Longshots, starring Ice Cube, based on the heartwarming true story of the 11-year-old girl who quarterbacked her team to the Pop Warner tournament, the first girl ever to play in it.  Ice Cube plays the girl’s ne’er-do-well, former football player uncle who coaches her to success.

Write your answers down while you watch the trailer:

So what did you write?

Did you write FUCKING FRED DURST?  Cause that’s who is directing, DIRECTING, that movie.  What the fuck is going on with the world.

They Made A Movie Out Of This?

Posted in movies, trailers, videos on May 28, 2008 by pgleason85

Really.  He’s Just Not That Into You is a movie now?

Does that count as a Sex In the City spinoff?  Is that even really where it comes from?  I just don’t understand any of this.  Will this be  romantic comedy that serves to make women even more insecure?  Or is it going to be wrapped with a happy ending bow?  Why is Drew Barrymore in it.  And Scarlett Johansson jumps in a pool naked, and Zack from Wedding Crashers doesn’t immediately jump in?

Why are they basing a movie off of what wikipedia (always trustworthy) calls, “a self-improvement book?”  I am so lost here.  Someone please explain this madness to me!

Say It Ain’t So

Posted in indiana jones, movies on May 22, 2008 by pgleason85

I put off seeing the Indiana Jones movie at midnight last night because i’m not nearly as cool as I once was and can’t stay out till 4am every night (plus, i’m broke at hell and movies cost $11.75).  Now, i’m hearing bad things.

It can’t be that bad, right?  RIGHT?

The thing is, I really wanted to see this movie. I was hoping that it would just be mindless entertainment.  It would be fun to watch.  But if it is really that bad I probably won’t wind up seeing it, becuase, well, who wants to go see a movie they know sucks.  Dammit! Someone tell me if this is true.

Jason Segal Has Discovered The Secret

After the earlier debacle I noticed that Knocked Up was on at 11 on HBOW (sans HD).  I stumbled around the dial for an hour, trying to find something, ANYTHING to distract me from The Yankees.  So at 11 I flipped to HBOW and enjoyed one of my favorite opening scenes to a movie.  I really wanna fire box to the sweet sounds of ODB:

(I wish I could find the actual opening scene, but whatever, that will have to do)

Watching that opening scene I noticed something, however.  Jason Segal has figured out the secret!

That is right. Jason Segal has discovered the secret to acting. Do you know what it is?

The secret…is facial hair! Seriously though. Look at him in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and How I Met Your Mother.

Clean shaven Jason comes off as vulnerable, likeable, and goofy.  You genuinely feel bad for him when his love interests break his heart, but still someone you could see yourself hanging out and drinking with.

Now lets look at him in Knocked Up

Creepy motherfucker who will try hard to bang your wife/girlfriend, but still someone you could see yourself hanging out and drinking with (i suppose some things never change) Seriously though, he doesn’t act that differently in these roles, its all the goatee. Call James Lipton and/or Braun because this man is a freakin genius, and he knows what is up!

Brain Not Working

I’m having massive power outages in my head this morning so rather than come up with something, i’m just going to post this video that lozo linked to:

That has got to be one of my favorite movies that I’ve only seen a handful of times.  I really need to go out and buy it.

I seem to be posting a lot of trailers these days.  I think its because I can’t afford to go to the movies so this is how i see them anymore.  Well today I saw a trailer for a movie I’d forgotten about but still really want to see filmjunk here is the trailer for Simon Pegg’s How To Lose Friends and Alienate People. Here’s what they say, ’cause they’re better writers:

How To Lose Friends and Alienate People is based on the true memoir of Toby Young, a British journalist who moved to New York to write for Vanity Fair, only to make a complete ass of himself along the way. Simon Pegg has been tapped to star in the film as “Sidney” Young (names have obviously been changed to protect the innocent), while Jeff Bridges looks absolutely spot on as Clayton Harding (ie. Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter). The movie also co-stars Kirsten Dunst, Gillian Anderson and Megan Fox, which sweetens the deal just a little bit more.

I’m pretty much going to see anything that Simon Pegg does until he dissapoints, and that hasn’t happened yet.  Plus that just looks really fucking funny.  I love situations when people are in over their head but don’t seem to realize it. Plus…Simon Pegg!!

Anywhoo, here is the trailer:

I’ve Been Thinking About This Movie

Posted in josh hartnett, movies, trailers, videos on May 13, 2008 by pgleason85

And today I saw the trailer:

I guess it is a story about two brothers who try to save their company in August 2001, pre-9/11.  It really got me thinking.  It’s crazy that this movie, that is only set 7 years ago, is being billed almost as a period piece.  I wonder how they will go with this.  According to Harnett’s pointless intro in this version of the trailer its about their fall from grace.  But everything I read about it keeps mentioning that it takes place a month before 9/11, so I assume that the end of the movie is going to deal with it.  I really don’t know though, consider my interest piqued.
